About the event
Family caregiving has many challenges and many rewards. As a family caregiver you work hard to support and care for your loved one, but sometimes it doesn’t feel like they know that! You are doing your best, and resistance comes out of nowhere: It’s just a bath, why don’t you want to take one? This new piece of equipment will help you, why won’t you try it? I worked hard on dinner, why don’t you want any of it? Then there are the BIG conversations where you know your loved one will resist: It’s time to move out of your home. It’s not safe to drive anymore. In this virtual workshop you will learn how to reframe resistance and approach it with compassion and understanding. You will come away with tools and tricks for how to communicate in ways that reduce resistance, deepen trust, and build rapport.
